Four people and a dog lying on a mustard yellow couch and a floor with a patterned rug. One person is laughing with hand on forehead, another is looking at camera with a relaxed expression, a third person is gazing upward, and the fourth person is gently petting a white dog with black spots.

Welcome home.

North of Ordinary is a creative commons and third place for people who are craving something increasingly rare: real, in-person connection.

We live in a world where we’re more digitally connected than ever, yet people feel isolated, overstimulated, and alone. This space exists as a counterpoint to that. We are a place to slow down, to be around other people, and to remember what it feels like to exist together in a shared, physical environment.

This is a space for everyone. We welcome community members, artists, activists, remote workers looking for connection, students, and anyone who shares our vision for a better future.

Make Good Things.

At its core, North of Ordinary is a place to cultivate what makes us human: creativity, connection, and care for one another. This is a place to:

  • build friendships and find your people

  • tap into your natural creativity (it’s still in there, we promise)

  • start or contribute to mutual aid and community organizing efforts

  • have conversations that really matter

  • participate in shared experiences like phone-free nights, co-working time, and creative gatherings

We are a place to take a breath, learn a new skill, make a new friend. A place to show up as you are. A place where good things of all kinds can happen.

Practices for a more connected world, right where we are.
